CLASS NEWS Dear Parents and/or Guardians,Welcome to St. Catherine of Genoa School’s Grade 1-B class. I am looking forward to getting to know your child and enjoying an exciting and productive year. I would like to take this opportunity to familiarize you with some of our policies. General Classroom Policies Our day begins at 8:00am and ends with dismissal at 3:00pm. Your child will be dismissed at the end of the day from the back, side yard of the school (outside the afterschool door). No pick-ups inside the school unless you are dismissing early (prior to 3:00pm). In that case, you must sign-out your child in the main office and the office will call down to the classroom for your child. If you are dropping off prior to 7:45am, your child may wait on the chairs outside our classroom until class starts. Please be sure to label all personal belongings. Especially lunch boxes, school bags, sweaters, and jackets. A communication/homework folder will be provided for your child. All important papers and homework will be included in this folder. It will be sent home as needed and should be returned to school the following day. If there is something that cannot be communicated via the folder or a matter that requires immediate attention, I can be contacted any time during school hours by telephone at (617) 666-9116. Please leave a message and I will call you back as soon as time allows. I can also be reached by email at [email protected] . However, I do not always have time to check email during school hours so if it is an emergency, please call the school. Do not send an email. Toys and electronic devices from home are not permitted in the classroom unless otherwise specified. Parent participation is encouraged. If you would like to volunteer your time or special services please let me know. All parents who volunteer are required by law to submit a CORI form for background check. I highly recommend filling out this form by 10/1/16. Teacher: Kristen TuxburyFoster Grandparent: Ms. Jan Shields CLASS HOMEWORK Homework is assigned on a regular basis.
